2020 Channel One Cup. Russia - Finland

The senior Russian national team will compete against Finland in the concluding match of the 2020 Channel One Cup at the Legends Park in Moscow.

The competition is the second stage of the 2020/2021 Euro Hockey Tour.

In their first two games, the Russians managed to claim two important victories, defeating Sweden 4:3 in a penalty shootout before earning a 4:1 triumph over the Czech Republic. When beating the Swedes, Andrei Kuzmenko, Nikita Soshnikov and Vadim Shipachyov all hit the jackpot, with the former subsequently tallying the winning penalty shot. In great form, Kuzmenko also scored against the Czechs on Saturday, and further goals from Anton Burdasov and Maxim Mamin (2) secured the victory.

Goalkeeper Alexander Samonov stood between the pipes for both of those particular matches.

Finland began their campaign with a confident 4:2 win against the Czech Republic with Toni Sund, Mikael Ruohomaa, Jere Karjalainen and Otso Rantakari registering goals. However, they came up short with Sweden yesterday, conceding a 1:4 loss. Teemu Turunen netted their only marker in the closing stages of the third period.

Goaltenders Jussi Olkinuora and Janne Juvonen took it in turns to play against the Czechs and Swedes respectively.

Puck drop is scheduled for 15:30 local time. Channel One will provide a live television broadcast in Russia, whereas you can follow text updates on our official Twitter account worldwide.
