List of candidates to participate at the 2019 World Junior Championship

The Russian national team management group have decided on the list of candidates to compete at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship in Canada (December 26-January 5).

On December 7, these following 28 players will travel to Novogorsk:

Goalkeepers: Pyotr Kochetkov (Ryazan), Amir Miftakhov (Bars), Daniil Tarasov (Toros).

Defensemen: Daniil Valitov (Avtomobilist), Artyom Volkov (Khimik), Daniil Zhuravlyov (Bars), Evgeny Kalabushkin (SKA-Neva), Anton Malyshev (Loko), llya Morozov (Sibir), Saveliy Olshanskiy (Zauralye), Alexander Romanov (CSKA), Mark Rubinchik (Toros), Makar Khabarov (Severstal).

Forwards: Artyom Galimov (Bars), Grigory Denisenko, Nikolai Kovalenko, Kirill Slepets (all Lokomotiv), Evgeny Kanitsky (Metallurg Novokuznetsk), Vitaly Kravtsov (Traktor), Kirill Marchenko, Ivan Morozov, Artyom Nikolaev, Vladislav Tsitsyura (all SKA-Neva), Ivan Muranov (Dynamo Moscow), Stepan Starkov (HC Sochi), Nikita Shashkov (Sibir), Pavel Shen (Salavat Yulaev), Alexander Yaremchuk (Avangard).

Ahead of the trip to Canada on December 15, five players will leave the group. A further five will also join the team for the final stage of preparation in Canada: Alexander Alexeev (defenseman, Red Deer), Dmitry Samorukov (defenseman, Guelph Storm), Klim Kostin (forward, San Antonio), Alexander Khovanov (forward, Moncton), Ivan Chekhovich (forward, Baie Comeau).

Three friendly matches will also take place before the 2019 World Junior Championship begins:

Russia - Sweden, December 19 (04:00 MSK)
Russia - USA, December 21 (04:00 MSK)
Russia - Switzerland, December 24 (03:30 MSK)

The final roster containing 23 players will be revealed after the friendly game against Switzerland.
